Rashtrapatni: Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has apologized for calling President Draupadi Murmu “the President” in a media interview earlier this week.

Mr Choudhary wrote in a letter, “I am writing to express my regret for accidentally using the wrong word to describe my situation. I assure you it was a slip of the tongue. I apologize and request you to accept it.” Letter from the tribal community to President Murmu, the country’s first President.

The BJP had also demanded Congress President Sonia Gandhi to apologize after her party leader’s remarks.

Mr. Chowdhury, the leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, used the “president” remark while talking to reporters during his party’s protests over several issues.

The BJP insisted that Mr Chowdhury’s remarks were not verbal as claimed by the Congress leader.
