Communal Clash In Gujarat: The police detained 19 people from both sides after two communities clashed over the bursting of firecrackers on Diwali in Gujarat’s Vadodara city, an official said.
In the communally sensitive Panigate locality, a clash broke out around 12.45 am on Tuesday.
A petrol bomb was allegedly hurled at policemen from the third floor of this house nearly an hour after the clash broke out, Vadodara Deputy Commissioner of Police Yashpal Jaganiya said.
During the clash, no one was injured, he said, adding that a rocket firecracker landed on a motorcycle parked nearby.
An official said that after two communities threw rocket bombs at each other and burst firecrackers, they pelted stones at each other.
He said security was deployed in the area following the incident.
Both communities were rounding up suspects, he said.
