Both Kidneys Of Woman Removed: Bihar Police has formed three special teams to arrest the owner of a private nursing home and a doctor for allegedly removing both the kidneys of a woman in Muzaffarpur district. An official gave this information on Saturday.

The woman is the mother of three children and is on dialysis in the ICU of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna since September 15.

Both her kidneys were allegedly removed at Shubhkant Clinic, an unauthorized nursing home in Muzaffarpur’s Bariyarpur area, where she underwent hysterectomy on September 3, police said. However, doctors at the state-run IGIMS said more tests were needed to confirm whether both her kidneys were missing.

“After the uterus removal surgery, she continued to suffer from abdominal pain. She finally went to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) on September 7. After conducting tests, the doctors at SKMCH told her family that both her kidneys were damaged. Inspector Saroj Kumar, in-charge of Sakra police station said, has been removed.

“Three special teams have been formed to nab the accused – Shubhkant Clinic owner Pawan Kumar and RK Singh, who is suspected to be a quack,” he said.

Doctors treating the woman at IGIMS told that her condition is very critical.

Dr Om Kumar, Head, Department of Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation at IGIMS said, “He is on regular dialysis and his condition is still critical. He will undergo a kidney transplant when his condition improves. His vital organs are closely monitored is going.” PTI.

Rajesh Tiwari, head of urology at IGIMS, however, said that more tests are needed to confirm whether both his kidneys have been removed.

“When her condition improves, we will do more medical tests to find out if both her kidneys were removed. Based on only one CT scan, we cannot conclude that both her kidneys were removed. He will have to undergo specific medical examinations,” he said.

IGIMS Principal Dr Ranjit Guha said that the state government has assured the woman’s family to bear the cost of her treatment.
