Bomb Scare On Iran-China Flight : As a result of a bomb threat on an Iranian passenger flight in Indian airspace, the Indian Air Force dispersed fighter jets this morning.
Bomb Threat On Iran-China Flight, Pilot Requested Landing In India
Mahan Air’s flight, en route from Tehran in Iran to Guangzhou in China, was offered two landing options in India, which it declined.
According to him, fighter jets followed the aircraft at a safe distance. According to flight tracking website Flightradar, the plane has now entered Chinese airspace.
At 9:20 a.m., police received a call reporting a bomb threat. As a result, Delhi airport was put on alert.
Despite being offered the option of landing at Jaipur or Chandigarh, the pilot refused to move to either.
After Tehran told the plane to ignore the bomb threat, the plane continued its journey towards China.
“The Indian Air Force conducted all actions jointly with the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) as per laid down procedure. The aircraft was under close radar surveillance by the Air Force throughout Indian airspace,” it said.
PTI reported that Lahore Air Traffic Control had informed Delhi ATC about the alleged bomb threat.
