Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other central ministers attended a grand ceremony in Gandhinagar today to swear in Gujarat BJP leader Bhupendra Patel for the second time.
During a function near the new Secretariat, Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath to Mr Patel, who had replaced Vijay Rupani in September last year.
BJP-ruled states and allies are also represented at the event.
The BJP won 156 of the state’s 182 seats and 53% of the vote in the just-concluded assembly elections in Gujarat, contrary to concerns about anti-incumbency.
In response to the election results, Mr Patel, 60, resigned along with his entire cabinet on Friday.
The BJP legislative party elected him leader on Saturday, after which he staked a claim to form the next government with the governor.
With a margin of 1.92 lakh votes, Mr Patel won the Ghatlodia seat.
