Rampur’s District Court today handed a seven-year prison sentence to Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, his wife Tazeen Fatima and son Abdullah Azam for a fake birth certificate case from 2019.

Three convicts were sentenced to the maximum seven-year prison term by MP-MLA court magistrate Shobit Bansal.

It was filed on January 3, 2019 by BJP MLA Akash Saxena at the Ganj police station in Rampur. Both a Lucknow and a Rampur date of birth certificate were alleged to have been faked by Azam Khan and his wife.

Abdullah Azam’s date of birth was listed as January 1, 1993 on the charge sheet issued by the Rampur municipality. His other birth certificate stated that he was born on September 30, 1990, in Lucknow.
