Army Chopper Crashes In Arunachal Pradesh, Search Operation Underway

    HAL Rudra In Arunachal Pradesh: Search and rescue operations are underway after an Indian Army helicopter crashed near Singging village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district on Friday.

    According to officials, the HAL Rudra In Arunachal Pradesh crash occurred about 25 km from Tuting’s headquarters.

    Known as the Weapon System Integrated (WSI) Mk-IV variant of the Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), the HAL Rudra belongs to the category of attack helicopters manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

The site of the accident is not connected by road, and a rescue team was sent to the scene. Further details are awaited,” Defence PRO was quoted as saying, according to media reports.

    There will be a ‘May Day’ call suggesting a mechanical or technical failure on the army helicopter that crashed in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday, according to officials. Five personnel were on board the advanced light helicopter (ALH), a Hindustan Aeronautics Limited HAL Rudra and also known as ALH-WSI, which crashed around Migging in Upper Siang district at 10.43am. In Lower Siang district, the helicopter took off from Likabali.

    After finding the crash site, which was remote and extremely challenging in terms of hills, steep gradients, and thick jungle, joint search operations were launched with teams from the army and air force immediately. At the end of Friday night, the search and rescue team had retrieved the mortal remains of four personnel, but they were still searching for one security force member.

    According to Tezpur’s Public Relations Officer (Defence), the pilots have accumulated over 600 combined flight hours on the Advanced Light Helicopter (Weapon Systems Integrated) and over 1800 flight hours in service.

    Air Traffic Control (ATC) received a MAY DAY call suggesting a technical or mechanical failure prior to the crash. “This will be the focus of the Court of Inquiry, which has been immediately activated to investigate the cause of the crash.”

    Upon notification of the next of kin, the names of those who died in the accident will be released.

    As of this month, there have been two Army helicopter accidents in the state.
