Today, a 10-year-old boy died after his teacher Muthappa pushed him off the first-floor balcony of a government-run school in Karnataka. Muthappa, a teacher at Adarsh Primary School in Hagli village in the northern part of the state, allegedly beat the boy with a shovel. Bharat was a fourth grade student.
Shivprakash Devaraju, a senior police officer in Gadak, told reporters, “The reason is not clear yet…prima facie it seems to be family issues.”
Bharat’s mother, Gita Barker, who is also a teacher at the school, was also beaten by Muthappa. A local hospital is treating her.
Currently, the contract employee is missing.
Last week, a similar incident was reported from a Delhi school. In a fit of rage, the teacher attacked a student of Class 5 with scissors and flung her from the first floor of the school.
During the craft class, the attack occurred.
Police say the teacher locked herself inside the classroom with students and threw water bottles before picking up the girl, cutting her hair, and tossing her from the balcony.
Geeta Deshwal was prevented from throwing down the student by another teacher.
According to doctors, the child, who was taken to the hospital immediately, is stable. As a result of her fractured cheekbone, she is unable to eat or drink. The fall also left her with bruises on her head and leg.
Delhi’s civic body runs the school in question. An attempt to murder charge has been filed against the teacher.
