Amit Shah briefly stopped his speech during a rally in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district today due to ‘Azaan’ or Muslim call to prayer at a nearby mosque.
During his half-hour-long speech at Showkat Ali stadium in the North Kashmir district, Amit Shah paused and asked those on stage, “Is there something going on at a mosque?”.”
Amit Shah stopped his speech immediately when someone on stage informed him that ‘Azaan’ was going on, provoking a huge round of applause and slogan chanting in his favor.
Eventually, he said that the call for prayer had ended and asked if he could continue.
“Should I resume my speech or not? Say it loudly, should I resume my speech,” he asked the crowd. As he continued to speak, he paused for a moment.
Earlier, Amit Shah addressed a large crowd in Kashmir’s Baramulla, where people had been waiting for hours to hear the Home Minister speak.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitender Singh, who were also present on stage, did not speak.
