Union Home Minister Amit Shah has downplayed AAP’s challenge in the Gujarat polls, claiming that Arvind Kejriwal’s party may not even be able to open its account, and said the BJP’s state unit’s announcement to set up an anti-radicalisation cell A good initiative which can be considered by other states and the Centre.

In an interview with PTI, Mr Shah cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity, Gujarat’s all-round development during his tenure as the state’s chief minister and the implementation of the zero appeasement policy as the main reasons for people repeatedly reposing faith in the BJP last 27 years.
“The BJP will register an unprecedented victory in Gujarat. People have full faith in our party and our leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Shah said. Voting in two phases on December 1 and 5.
On AAP’s entry in the Gujarat assembly polls, the BJP leader said, “Every party has the right to contest elections, but it is up to the people whether they accept the party or not.”
“AAP is nowhere in the minds of the people of Gujarat. Wait for the election results, your name may not figure in the list of successful candidates,” he said.
While the Congress has been the main rival of the BJP in Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party (APP), led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has launched an aggressive campaign in PM Modi’s home state.
On the Congress, Shah said, “It is still the main opposition party, but the party is going through a crisis and its effects are visible in Gujarat as well.” When asked about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Shri Shah said that sustained efforts are very important in politics.
He said, “I have always believed that politicians need to work hard and it is good when one works hard. But in politics only continuous efforts show results. So let’s wait and see.” “
Mr Shah, who has been talking about national security issues in the campaign for the state polls, said they are important in every assembly election.
The opposition has accused the BJP of raising national issues like terrorism in state elections to divert public attention from concerns related to governance.
“Gujarat’s security is linked to national security or not? Gujarat’s security and national security are not separate issues. And if the country is not secure, how can Gujarat be secure? is the main issue.” election,” he said.
Responding to a question, he said, “Being a border state, people of Gujarat are sensitive to national security. We cannot affect national security at any place in the country.”
With the opposition often accusing the government of misusing investigative agencies against its political rivals, Mr Shah said the country has an independent and neutral judiciary, and “if there is any misuse of investigative agencies, they can approach the judiciary”. Huh.”
Mr Shah, who has been raising law and order issues in his campaign speeches, described the lawlessness as one of the achievements of the BJP government in Gujarat.
The former BJP president termed the party’s poll promise of setting up an anti-radicalisation cell as a good initiative and said any organization like PFI which pushes youth towards militancy will not be tolerated.
He said that Popular Front of India (PFI) was banned after hard work and many states demanded it.
“Modi government decided to ban PFI after gathering lot of information and evidence related to anti-national activities of PFI, especially their activities of radicalization of youth.”
Shah said, ‘Many states have demanded a ban on PFI. Such activities of any organization will not be tolerated in the Modi government.
Asked whether the BJP’s announcement of setting up an anti-radicalisation cell in Gujarat would be implemented in other states as well, Shah said, “It is a good initiative.” Let it (here) be implemented first. It will be given a legal form and its working system will be fixed.
He said that bigotry should be stopped not only in Gujarat but in the whole country.
“And it (anti-radicalisation cell) can be considered at the national level and in other states. Fundamentalism has nothing to do with any sect, but we all know which forces are promoting fundamentalism. And the whole world is worried about it,” Mr Shah said.
Asked about issues like inflation affecting the election, the Union Home Minister said that countries across the world are facing this problem, and India is the least affected among them.
“Post-Covid recession was a global challenge but still the Indian economy witnessed a V-shaped recovery. Similarly, I also believe that India will tackle inflation very effectively, which is a challenge for countries across the world. And today, the country’s social life is least affected by inflation,” Mr Shah said.
Asked whether Bhupendra Patel would continue as the chief minister if the BJP is re-elected, Shah said he is doing a good job and taking forward all the initiatives started by Prime Minister Modi as the chief minister of Gujarat.
On the question of all regional parties coming together along with national parties to take on the BJP, Shah suggested that they stand nowhere in front of the popularity of Prime Minister Modi.
“If you look at the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government he has given in the last eight years, I don’t think such an alliance will have any effect. And these regional parties don’t have anything outside their states,” he said. Not there.”
“One regional party has nothing in another state. Eventually, it will be a one-on-one fight. And such alliances exist only on paper and are good to grab headlines.”
Discussing the BJP’s expansion in southern and eastern states, Mr Shah said the party’s vote share in West Bengal rose to 40 per cent and it won 18 Lok Sabha seats. He claimed that the BJP would further improve its seat tally in West Bengal in the next Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP “has become the main opposition party” in Telangana. Mr Shah said the party is doing well in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, adding that expansion of cadre-based parties is not possible overnight. “It takes time, but we are doing well in these states,” he said.
