Twin car blasts near the Jammu railway station this morning injured six people, raising concerns about Jammu and Kashmir’s security situation ahead of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.

According to Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Jammu), the blast happened in Narwal. At Chadwal, over 60 km from Jammu, Mr Gandhi’s yatra is taking a break.
The blast was caused by improvised explosive devices (IEDs). One of the injured is in critical condition and has been rushed to hospital.
After the blasts, the area has been cordoned off and security has been enhanced. Checking vehicles is part of a search operation.
Mr Gandhi’s yatra started yesterday in Jammu and Kashmir and ends on January 30 in Srinagar. Those participating in the march have today off and will resume tomorrow towards Jammu.
In light of the Yatra, the Union Territory is under heavy security.
