Shortly after becoming Twitter’s new CEO, Elon Musk fired Parag Agrawal. Twitter was purchased by the billionaire for $44 billion.

As Twitter’s first Indian-origin CEO, Mr Agrawal was appointed in November 2021. Founder and CEO of the company, he is an IIT Bombay and Stanford alumnus. In 2017, he was appointed chief technology officer (CTO) of the company.
He was one of the youngest CEOs of a big technology company at the age of 38. A S&P 500 company also appointed him as its youngest CEO.
A fake account issue prompted Elon Musk to back out of his purchase of Twitter in April this year. As for Twitter’s fake accounts, he claimed he was misled by Mr Agrawal. Mr Musk’s tweet “Is Twitter dying?” soured the relationship between the two. A US court filing disclosed the series of text messages.
Reuters reported that his 2021 compensation totaled $30.4 million, mainly in stock awards.
According to reports, he will receive $42 million after leaving. Equilar conducted the research that led to the figure. In addition to Mr Agrawal’s base salary, all equity awards will be accelerated.
