This morning, security forces intercepted a truck they were traveling in on the outskirts of Jammu and killed four terrorists.
In the gun battle, the truck caught fire, and fire tenders were called to douse it.
A truck was moving erratically in the area. Police stopped it at a checkpoint. Security forces searched the truck, but a terrorist hidden inside fired at them. Mukesh Singh, Jammu’s Additional Director General of Police, said all the terrorists had been killed.
Singh said the truck driver escaped and a search operation is underway to find him.
The burned truck had a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
AK rifles, M4 carbines, pistols, and other ammunition were recovered, Mr Singh said. The truck was heading to Srinagar from Jammu.
After the encounter, the whole area was sealed off and traffic along the highway was stopped.
Around 7 a.m., police said the encounter started.
Police defused a 15 kg improvised explosive device (IED) yesterday in Udhampur, near Jammu.
A major terror plot was averted when a cylindrical IED, 300-400 grams of RDX, seven 7.62 mm cartridges, and five detonators were found in Basantgarh.
Also, police found a coded sheet and letter pad page from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
