Players Not in T20 World Cup 2022: The T20 World Cup 2021 was a nightmare for Team India. The star-studded lineup in the UAE, along with Australia, Pakistan, and England, made India a strong contender for the title.
In the first round, however, the Men in Blue lost consecutive matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. India’s poor performance was largely attributed to its team selection.
Rohit Sharma and Co. will participate in the next T20 World Cup in a few weeks. When the top teams meet in Australia next month, India will hope to improve on their performance. Due to their poor performance at the 2021 World Cup, three players did not get a place in the squad for the T20 World Cup 2022.
Varun Chakravarthy is ranked #1
Varun Chakravarthy performed brilliantly in the IPL 2020 and 2021. Varun’s inclusion in the World Cup squad had been contested, but his mystery spin provided an X-factor.
Varun conceded 33 runs in four overs in the first match against Pakistan, but he failed to pick up a wicket. Against New Zealand, he conceded only 23 runs in four overs, but failed to take a wicket again.
Varun was dropped for the next match against Afghanistan, but made a comeback against Scotland, but failed to pick up a wicket in that match, too, and was never re-inducted into the Indian squad.
Shardul Thakur, #2
Before the T20 World Cup 2021, Shardul Thakur was drafted from the reserves into the main squad. When the Indian team was under pressure, Shardul was expected to take wickets. He also did not perform well for the Men in Blue.
After Pakistan’s loss, Shardul was given the chance to play against New Zealand. He failed both in batting and bowling. Due to his poor performance and the emergence of Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh, Shardul will not have a chance in World Cup 2022.
Rahul Chahar, #3
In the T20 World Cup 2021, Rahul Chahar was given a chance over Yuzvendra Chahal. Social media heavily criticized the selection committee’s decision.
Chahar only got an opportunity in the match against Namibia and he did not manage to produce a special performance in it. Due to the poor performance of the Indian team, Yuzvendra Chahal returned to the team and Chahar did not get a chance again.
