We Have Killed 5 So Far: Ex BJP MLA Gyan Dev Ahuja

After former BJP MLA Gyan Dev Ahuja was recorded saying that his supporters had “killed five people” for cow smuggling, the Alwar police have booked him for inciting hatred and enmity.

Shiv Shankar, SHO of Govindgarh police station, said that the police investigated the matter after the video went viral. Ahuja met the family of 45-year-old Chiranjilal Saini, who was lynched to death by members of the Meo Muslim community on suspicion of tractor theft. Saini died during treatment at a hospital in Jaipur. Ahuja’s comments on the viral video were in the context of this incident.

According to the SHO, an FIR has been registered under Section 153-A of the IPC for inciting enmity on grounds of religion. In the video, Ahuja was seen asking a group of people to launch an agitation against Saini’s lynching.

“We have so far lynched five people, be it in Lavandi or Behror. This is the first time in this area that they have killed someone. I have given free rein to kill activists,” he said. We will acquit him and get him bail. The former MLA is seen saying in the video.

Following the controversy, BJP’s Alwar (South) chief Sanjay Singh Naruka told news agency PTI that “this is not the thinking” of the party.

The former MLA of Ramgarh took a pledge that no one involved in cow smuggling and slaughter would be spared. The MLA claimed that while they were sitting together, a local RSS leader proposed to launch an agitation against Saini’s lynching. “It is the Meo people who smuggle and slaughter cows and Hindus have feelings for cows, hence, they target such smugglers,” he said, adding that it was his duty to protect his workers.

Sharing the video, Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasara said that it has exposed the real face of BJP. “What more proof is needed of BJP’s religious terror and bigotry? The real face of BJP has been exposed,” he said.

In recent years, there have been at least two incidents of lynching on suspicion of cow smuggling in Alwar.

In 2017, Rakbar Khan was killed after 55-year-old Pehlu Khan was beaten up in Bherod and in 2018 in Lavandi village of Alwar’s Ramgarh on similar suspicions.
