“Rashtrapatni” Remark

Ms Irani launched a scathing attack on Sonia Gandhi and demanded her apology. “Sonia Gandhi approved the humiliation of a woman at the country’s highest constitutional post,” he said. An angry Irani also called Mrs Gandhi “anti-tribal, anti-Dalit and anti-women”.

Another protest led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who has just recovered from Covid, saw her along with fellow MPs protesting the remarks with placards in the Parliament complex. Inside the lower house, Ms Sitharaman called it “deliberate sexual abuse” and demanded that the Congress president apologize on behalf of the party.

The Finance Minister said in the Lok Sabha, “I demand an apology from the President of the Congress party, who is a woman herself, she allowed her leader to speak like this. Sonia Gandhi should come before the country and apologize for insulting the President.” should be asked.”

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury swiftly clarified that it was only a slip of the tongue and that the BJP is “making a mountain out of a mole”. He accused the BJP of diverting attention from important discussions on price hike, GST, Agneepath scheme, unemployment and other issues.

“Whoever is the President of India, be it a Brahmin, or a tribal, the President is the President for us. Our honor is for the office. Yesterday when we were protesting at Vijay Chowk, the journalists asked us where should we go I told him that I want to go to the President’s house. Just one, I said “President” … the reporter repeated it to me and I said that I must have said it in error and that they better not broadcast it. They (BJP) are creating a ruckus because of this. I made a mistake, just once and in one word,” Mi Chowdhary said in a video statement posted on his Twitter account.

Speaking to media, Sonia Gandhi said that Mr Choudhary has already apologised.

Mr. Choudhary is the leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha and used this remark while speaking to the media during his party’s protests on several issues.

Ms Irani alleged that the Congress has been targeting Ms Murmu “malicious” ever since the BJP-led NDA made her its presidential candidate, and said she was treated as a “puppet” and a “symbol of evil” by its leaders.”

Smriti Irani said, “Congressmen knew that addressing the President of India in this manner insults not only his constitutional position but also his rich tribal heritage.”

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 4 pm amidst the ruckus of the BJP.
